WITHIN 12 hours of the arrest of 15 students by the Allahabad police in connection with the Post Graduate Admission Test (PGAT)-2006 paper leak case, top Allahabad University (AU) officials held an emergency meeting on Sunday and resolved that all the forthcoming admission tests including the all-important Law Admission Test (LAT)-2006 as well as the admission process will go ahead as per schedule.

LAT-2006 is to be held between 8 am and 11 am on July 3, 2006 for filling up 320 seats and for which 5715 students have registered themselves including 58 physically handicapped students and 737 girl candidates.
At the meeting held at the AU Vice-Chancellor's camp office, the VC Prof Rajen Harshe informed the varsity officials of his decision on Saturday to cancel the PGAT Hindi exam based on the report of the SSP (Allahabad). VC's decision was endorsed by all.
The officials also took note of the fact that the UGAT results of BA, BCom and BSc have already been declared and decided to appoint directors for the admission process that is to begin from July 11. As a result, Dr Krishan Kumar of Zoology department was appointed as the admission process director for the BSc-I course, Prof HK Singh was appointed the admission process director for the BCom-I course and Prof BN Mishra of the Georgraphy department was appointed as admission process director for the BA-I course.
Following the meeting, the varsity administration is now expected to announce the fresh date for the PGAT Hindi on Monday.
All the Deans including Dean (Arts) Prof KG Srivastava, Dean (Science) Prof Hari Prakash, Dean (Commerce) Prof Raj Shekhar, Dean (Law) Prof HN Tiwari and Dean Students Welfare Prof Jagdamba Singh along with Chairman Board of Trustees Prof GK Rai, Executive Council Member Prof Alka Agarwal and Chief Public Information Officer Prof Amrendra Singh were present at the meeting.
