The Assam United Democratic Front (AUDF), a newly formed party of the minority community, on Monday ruled out having a post-poll alliance with the Congress, saying the ruling party has betrayed minorities.

"There is absolutely no chance of going with the Congress as they have betrayed the minority people and scrapped the IMDT", AUDF general secretary HRA Choudhury said in Guwahati.

He alleged that the ruling Congress had presented a "weak case" as a result of which the Supreme Court had to scrap the IMDT act.

"And now the amendment which the Congress has brought has created suspicion among the minority people," Choudhury said.

"The minority people has lost faith in the Congress and now they are not going to vote for the party," he said.

Exuding confidence that the AUDF will win a minimum of 15 seats in the 126-member house, the party leader said they would look into the "political equations" before deciding to support any party.
