Stepping out in the rains can be quite a downer, even if you’re a lover of the great outdoors. Indulge the homebody in you by turning your living room into an amphitheatre or a spa. All it takes is a phone call to these special home delivery services.

Bring home the drama
The Back-to-Basics programme, conceived by Mumbai-based theatre company LoudMouth Entertainment offers affordable, at-home drama workshops for groups of 8-15 people. “If you have a decent-sized living room, and have a group of about ten people, then give us a call, and we will conduct a workshop for you,” says co-founder Edsil Coutinho. Adds fellow co-founder Bijoy Idicheriah. “Our intent is to break the elitist stereotype attached with theatre and to create an alternative space for amateurs.”

Private gigs, anyone?
Moving beyond regular gigs, many city bands in the city are open to home performances if there is a decent audience. “We get to reach out to our audience and perform in a lot more comfortable setting,” says Ankur Tewari, founder of the city-based band Ankur & the Ghalat Family. At a recently held contest by folk-rock band Swarathma, a lucky fan will get a chance to have the band perform an acoustic set at his or her home. “We started this in Bangalore and plan to take it to other cities soon,” says the band’s bassist Jishnu Dasgupta.

Pamper yourself
In addition to local ‘beauty parlour aunties’, famous salons in the city have also started making house calls. “We offer home services if there are more than five orders from the same place. For services like spas, which involve equipment, there should be a minimum of eight customers,” says Arpana Rao, owner of Jawed Habib’s Salon in Juhu.

Fine dining indoors
Turning Tables, an initiative by Brown Paper Bag, is a monthly dinner party that’s catered by a chef from a trendy restaurant in the city. Twenty guests gather at the host’s home and get to chat with the chef and learn recipes. Check www.

It’s cocktail hour!
Get cocktails like mojitos, pina coladas, and cosmopolitans prepared at home from the UK’s popular ‘meals on wheels’ providers Apetito. The Rs 999 cocktail-mix pack can be delivered anywhere in the city by Apetito’s Lower Parel outlet. Call 6666 2012.
