The hearing in the Ayodhya demolition case, in which BJP president LK Advani and VHP chief Ashok Singhal are among the accused, was on Saturday deferred to December 10 as no witness turned up at the court in Rae Bareli.

The Special CBI court posted further hearing in the Babri Masjid demolition case to December 3 after none of the witnesses appeared for the hearing.

CBI counsel PK Chaubey could not appear at the court today as his wife had taken ill, court sources said.

The matter was deferred on its previous hearing on September 30 also due to the witnesses failing to appear.

Special Judicial Magistrate (CBI) VK Singh, who had been hearing the matter, has meanwhile been promoted.

Charges in the case were framed against Advani, former Union Ministers MM Joshi, Uma Bharti, Singhal, former state BJP president Vinay Katiyar, VHP leaders Giriraj Kishore, Vishnu Hari Dalmiya and Sadhvi Ritambhara on July 28.
