On Tuesday evening Pramila Dalei gave birth to a child through an operation at the hospital.

"I was told that the baby was stillborn and therefore dumped," the child's father Sudhir Dalei of Khurda alleged.

Dalei claimed the aunt of the baby found her alive inside the dustbin.

When contacted, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Gangadhar Rath, however, denied the allegation that the baby was recovered from a dust bin.

"The baby was well at the box meant for newborns. It is in the ICU," the CMO said.

The baby's father, however, claimed that he was told by the hospital staff that the child was stillborn and therefore dumped in the dustbin.

The Director of Health Services and an additional secretary rank officer of Health and Family Welfare department today rushed to the hospital to probe the incident.

The officers met the baby's father and recorded his statement before meeting the doctors, nurse and other para-medical staff present during the child birth.
