Constable Avanish Yadav was arrested when he was about to board a train for Delhi.

Bareilly city superintendent of police Rajiv Malhotra confirmed the arrest of the accused.

Avanish, along with constable Veer Pal Singh Yadav, had allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped a 14-year old girl in the Musajhag police station in Badaun district on New Year's eve and was on the run since then.

Veer Pal is yet to be traced. Both the constables have been suspended.

The girl's mother had said in her complaint that her daughter went out of the house to relieve herself, while she was coming back Veer Pal and Avanish pushed her in a car and took her to the police station.

They raped her there and when her condition deteriorated they dumped her on the outskirts of the village at midnight, she had said.

An FIR was registered against the constables only after the incident was highlighted by the media.
