DREADED OUTLAW and leader of a dacoit gang Hafizullah, who managed to remain elusive for nearly three decades, may be dead but his ghost continues to haunting the lives of residents of Kaushambi and the city.
Terror he unleashed all these years has come back to haunt many in the form of Bahar, said to be his close associate. What has created fear in the hearts of residents is the fact that Bahar might avenge the death of Hafizullah by killing those in cold blood who had tipped off the STF about him. Bahar, at present, is reportedly busy with reorganising the gang members once again after they disintegrated following the gang leader’s death.
The fact that he might turn his attention towards them has already started giving nightmares to many in Kaushambi and the city. Like his guru, Bahar too carries a reward on his head. His operation extends to the Ganga belt of Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Fatehpur districts, besides Allahabad and Kaushambi.
Sources said, he is related to Hafizullah. Both Bahar and Hafizullah hail from Sahton village under Saini police station in Kaushambi. Said to be one of the main shooters of the Hafizullah gang, he has also been into contract killing.
People of the area believe he was hired for the murder of Wasim Khan, a petrol dealer and transporter of Allahabad city. His wife too was killed with him in the car as the couple had come out on the road from the Ansal’s colony in Civil Lines. Police has not been able to solve this murder mystery.
A politician of the city who has property in the neighbouring Kaushambi district is upset over reports that Bahar was reorganising the Hafizullah gang and has become the new leader.
He is a daredevil not afraid of bullets or cops. Tall and handsome, Bahar comes from Ghosi tribe of Muslims. Coming from a family living below poverty line he was picked up by Hafizullah and trained to kill. Bullets fired by him never miss the target, say locals. From a poor labourer to a sharp shooter his is a rags to riches story, say locals.
