One of the theories, on which police is working to solve underworld don Sanjay Gupta alias Bakra murder case, indicates that two rival groups - Vipan Bhoot and Sethu and Rajesh Dogra alias Mohan got together to execute the killing of Bakra.
Meanwhile, various police teams have fanned out to Kathua, Udhampur and in different parts of Jammu to round off criminals hailing from different gangs that had rivalry with Bakra gang. Following a manhunt, persons having criminal background went underground and some even managed to leave the state.
Official sources disclosed to Hindustan Times that "various police teams including that of City South, SOG and Anti-Goonda squad investigating the case are working on various theories." "While team is probing if it was a handiwork from within the members of Bakra gang, the other team is investigating if the two rival groups had joined hands against Bakra," sources revealed.
Sources informed that "recently the members of Sethu, Vipan Bhoot group and Mohan group were spotted together, which further supports the theory that both the groups got united to murder Bakra."
"As long as Bakra had remained alive, none of the gang could have achieved success in establishing its network in the old city area in Jammu where Sanjay Gupta alias Bakra lived," sources indicated.
"Investigating team that recovered one country made arm with its barrel cut, are trying to ascertain on whose name that gun was purchased. Police team has also identified the number-14185-92 of the gun," sources further revealed and added that "investigations are also on to ascertain how many registries of various plots of land, in past two to three months have been made in the name of Sanjay Gupta alias Bakra as there were indications that there might be some land issue that led to the murder."
