Pratibha Singh had joined work as a domestic help at the residence of Sulabh Srivastava, a manager with HDFC Bank, on June 16, reportedly through a Delhi-based placement agency Metro Jobs.

The maid was found dead after allegedly falling from the ninth floor of Mahagun Mosaic Society on Tuesday morning, the police said.

“She was raped which has been confirmed through her medical reports,” SSP Akhil Kumar said. An FIR has been lodged under Sections 306/376 of IPC against Srivastava, he added.

Srivastava refused to comment. While Srivastava’s family denied his involvement, the police are trying to find out where they were through their cellphone records.

“His wife said she was at home during the possible time of the incident and the room was also locked from inside. There was no other male member besides her husband. Till this time he is the suspect,” Kumar added.

Pratibha’s mother Saarti, who had arrived with her from Bengal in the first week of June, had on Tuesday alleged foul play in her daughter’s death.
