The stadium pitch has been a good one for India, which has won five out of the seven ODI that it has played here.

The stadium also holds the record of hosting the third One-Day International in India in January 1982. India beat England during the match to lift the series 2-1. Indian bowlers too have had a memorable time here. Kapil Dev bagged his 300th Test wicket here while spinner Narendra Hirwani took six wickets for 59 runs against New Zealand.

India remains the highest ODI scorer here, piling up 301 for 3 against Zimbabwe in April 1998. An unbeaten 153 by M Azharuddin and 116 by Ajay Jadeja made India win the match by 32 runs.

Indian batsman VVS Laxman made his ODI debut at this stadium. Azharuddin’s 153 remains the highest individual score by any batsman at the pitch, with Sachin Tendulkar coming in second with an unbeaten 127 against Kenya in 1995-96.
