Basu's name proposed for top post

RJD MP Vijay Krishna has in a letter to his party chief Lalu Yadav, urged him to take the initiative in proposing former West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu’s name as a Presidential candidate.

He recalled that the Marxist leader’s name had come up for the PM’s post earlier. Krishna’s move gives an added twist to the presidential election since it comes in the backdrop of reports that Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee is in the race.
