DENIZENS OF Bhopal welcomed New Year 2007 in style with parties and revellery organised at almost all hotels and restaurants of the City as well as the famous Lake Princess cruise vessel.
Hotels, restaurants, clubs and other joints arranged New Year’s Eve parties and offered a variety of fun and entertainment to merry makers. There were sumptuous food spreads, lots of music and dancing, fun games, entertainment programmes by professional groups and of course a whole lot of fun cruising on the Upper Lake too.
The Noor-us-Sabah Palace hotel offered special and royal dinner buffets at its Chinese restaurant, ‘The Dynasty’ as well as the banquet hall. Members of the Dhoodhane music group entertained the 100 plus couples.
Several senior bureaucrats, their families and renowned citizens welcomed the New Year at the Arera Club on Link Road number one. There was dancing, music, sumptuous food, drinks, tambola, fun games, prizes and lucky draws for almost everyone.
Similarly, police officers and their families celebrated New Year as always at the scenically located Police Officer’s Mess near the Lower Lake. The place was decorated and illuminated with lights and everyone enjoyed the party.
Special biryanis, kebabs and other delicacies were on offer along with mind-blowing music at the Jehanuma Palace Hotel. Both Shahnama restaurant and Under the Mango Tree were decked up for the eve while the banquet hall played host for the dancing and revellery. The Caffechino coffee shop also played host to a large gathering of youngsters. The hotel offered special discounts of liquor too.
MP State Tourism Development Corporation’s (MPSTDC) Palash Residency Hotel – which has recently been granted three-star status – also hosted a lavish party. The special attraction of the night was great music played by the YAYACHI Orchestra group and many people revelled in the fun. Besides, there was a sumptuous spread of tasty dishes complemented by drinks.
An ‘all stir fry menu’ instantly tossed and served with choicest of sauces was the specialty at the Green Woods Country Club. Hundreds of people enjoyed the party that offered great DJ music, dancing, food, drinks and loads of prizes and lucky draws.
An open air dance party in the front lawns with 50,000-watt music and live performance by the orchestra `Venus’ were the special attractions at the party thrown by Hotel Lake View Ashoka. Besides, there was a terrific Light ‘n’ Laser show and hundreds of people enjoyed the food and drinks laid out by the hotel.
More than 50-odd couples gyrated to foot tapping music at Hotel Amer Palace’s discotheque, `Jhankaar’ and the party continued beyond midnight. The hotel also laid out a delicious spread of food coupled with a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Elaborate arrangements were made for approximately 300 couples that enjoyed a blue theme party - ‘Hello 2007’, at the Amer Greens on Hoshangabad road. There was a separate programme and game shows for the children while there was facility for baby-sitting too.
The party’s special attraction was a live band from Mumbai. A raffle draw and fabulous prizes for the best dancing couple, best-dressed gentleman, best-dressed lady as well as the family of the eve were given away.
The special attraction at Residency Hotel in MP Nagar was bare-foot dancing on an ice bar by professionals. The hotel created a special party area on its terrace while guests had a rocking time dancing on DJ music on the dance floor. The hotel also set up a rustic locale to give a different kind of ambience to the guests and doled out hot milk and jalebis to make it more realistic.
The Kanha Fun City’s special attraction was a dance performance by Russian Ballet Troupe specially invited from Mumbai. There was electrifying DJ music and live performance by the Green group.
Around 400 couples enjoyed the party with an exotic dinner that served around 15 different kinds of dishes. There was abundant supply of drinks including a whole range of whisky, wine and liquor. There were prizes for best couple, best dancing couple, best kid as well as Mr and Miss Eve.
Making the New Year’s Eve deliciously special, with attractive cakes and pastries, the Bake N Shake confectioner at 10 No market has come up with a wide variety of cakes from dark chocolate, crunchy to flavoured pastries. The outlet has offered a scheme in which with every purchase of one kg of cake, a free pack of 200 gm cookies would be given to the customer.
