Former Pakistan premier and PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto has called for a "political solution" of the Balochistan issue.

In a video statement played before a public meeting to mark the 27th death anniversary of her father ZA Bhutto, she reportedly said that a political path should be adopted to resolve the Balochistan issue.

"Other doors open when political window closes so better to address the issue through dialogue," The News quoted her saying in the video.

She added that during the last five years parliament had been bypassed and arbitrary decisions were taken regarding the Balochistan issue.

She posed a question as to why parliamentary committee and journalists were not allowed to visit Waziristan "if innocent people were not being killed there".

The military action in Balochistan was harmful for the country, she said and added that the PPP had permitted Baloch leaders to come and participate in the elections.

According to her, fair and free general elections under an independent election commission should be held in the country to transfer power to the elected representatives in order to pull the country out of the present crises.
