BICL staff up in arms, demand explanation

Leaders of the workers’ union and officers union registered a protest with officiating general manager RK Mishra, who had visited the Union Ministry of Textile and joined office today. The leaders warned that they would not allow the sale of the mill property till the case of revival was finalised by the Board of Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR). They also blamed the management for making anti-employee proposals to the Union Ministry of Textiles by suggesting VRS for employees.

All leaders including employees’ association president Sarvesh Panday, officers association working president Girish Mishra and general secretary of the officers association registered their protest with the officiating GM. They also demanded to know why the proposal had been put before the Ministry of Textiles by the management. However, RK Mishra refuted allegations levelled by the leaders. He said that he and CMD were called to discuss the reply of the notice earlier issued by the BIFR at MoT. The issue is likely to cause much heartburn among employees till the time when the CMD explains to the leaders about the issues raised by them.
