Official sources said that terrorists had planted a 20 kg IED in a car, parked at Pirbagh, Hyderpora to target security forces and VIP.

However, a patrol, noticing the abandoned vehicle, immediately informed the bomb disposal squad.

The IED, kept in a pressure cooker, was taken to Tangpora bypass and defused in an open field.

Terrorists have been targeting security force vehicles lately by triggering car bomb blasts in the valley.
