Jois spoke to Singh over phone for about 15 minutes asking him to ensure safety of life and property of people from Bihar living there, a Rajbhavan communiqué said in Patna.
The Assam governor assured his Bihar counterpart that effective steps were being taken for the safety of Biharis and asked Jois to do the same for people from north eastern states including Assam in his state, it said.
This is the second time Jois spoke to his Assam counterpart since ethnic tension erupted in Assam and Bihar over the assault of Bihari students during railway recruitment board group-D examinations in Assam on November nine.
