"The establishment of new centers stems from our commitment to build Birlasoft into a major player in the IT services and solutions space. We plan to ramp up our staff strength to 5,000 by the end of 2006," said Kamal Mansharamani CEO of Birlasoft in a statement here today.

"The last 12-months have seen our manpower grow from 1800 to over 3000 IT professionals. We are looking at further expansion in existing and new geographies and are not averse to inorganic growth," he added.

"The development facility at Hyderabad is part of the expansion plan, Mansharamani said adding that currently, Birlasoft has development centres in NOIDA (2), Chennai, Bangalore, Melbourne and Sydney, with its marketing headquarters being situated in New Jersey, USA.

The importance that Birlasoft attaches to its upcoming facility in Hyderabad is reinforced by the fact that it is holding its annual global sales, accounts and marketing summit (SAM 2006) here from January 4-7, 2006.

Senior company professionals from all over the world shall chalkout the next year's business plans here.

Besides Birlasoft has been recruiting IT professionals from colleges in and around Hyderabad for two years. With the new facility coming up, the company has decided to tap IT talent also from universities and colleges in Warangal, Vizag, Vijayanagaram, Kakinada, Vijayawada and Guntur.
