BJP activists burn officials? effigies

They burnt the effigies of GM Jal Sansthan, GM Jal Nigam, municipal commissioner and chairman Jal Sansthan at Kidwai Nager crossing.

A meeting was also organised by party members. Addressing the meeting, state general secretary of the BJP local bodies, Amit Puri said that local MLA and MPs were responsible for the bad condition of the drainage system in the area. He said that under the Indo-Dutch scheme nearly Rs 100 crore had been spent for development of city. However, residents of south city did not get benefit under the scheme due to negligence by the local MLA, Puri alleged.

The meeting was also addressed by many other senior leaders of the BJP like former mayor Sarla Singh, former minister Balchandra Mishra, BJP former vice-president (south) Radheyshyam Panday and former MLA Satyadev Pachauri.

They flayed the State government and local representatives for their incompetence in handling the situation. They said that residents of the south were forced to take sewerage water mixed drinking water and this had created health risk for them.

They further said that areas like Babupurwa Colony, H,K,Y, Y-1, Site No.-1, Juhi Lal Colony, Barra, Gujaini, Vishwa Bank Colony, Saket Nagar, Govind Nagar had been facing the problem of contaminated drinking water.

They alleged that many projects started under the Indo-Dutch project were left incomplete.

They have also not completed the construction work of sewerage line at Chawla Market, Gaushala, Pandu Nadi-Kidwai Nagar line and did not repair many damaged lines in the residential area.

They said if these project had been completed in time, the situation would have been better.

Activists led by president of the local bodies and corporator Lalit Mohan Srivastva also submitted a memorandum to local circle officer Asha Ram Yadav addressed to State Governor.
