Talking to reporters in Mangalore, state unit of BJP Yuva Morcha President Girish Mattannanavar claimed that according to a CBI various churches received report an amount of Rs 300 crore in1984 and the trend was continuing.

Alleging that these funds were being utilised for conversion, he said, "An amount of $2,000 was being paid for each conversion".

Coming down on the Congress and JDS, Mattannanavar said they were trying to disrupt communal harmony in the district by making provocative statements.

He termed Sunday's church attacks in Bangalore as "a conspiracy hatched by the Congress to bring a bad name to the state government".
