Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will not be the BJP's star campaigner in Delhi. The party will, instead, concentrate on leaders from other parts of the country who can target the regional population groups in the constituencies. Party bosses believe that this will help counter the dominance of Punjabi and Vaish candidates.

According to senior party leaders, Modi will address a couple of meetings only on November 24. "The party wants to utilise him more in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh where there is a large population of Gujaratis and which has a border with Gujarat," a senior party leader said.

There is a strong opinion in the party that Modi's Hindutva will not work in the Capital.
