A case was registered against her on Sunday for distributing calendars of Hindu deities, carrying her party's symbol and her photograph.

"She is accused of misusing religious sentiments in her campaign," police inspector Krishna Kumar told IANS on telephone from Farukkhabad, about 150 km from Lucknow.

He said the BJP symbol lotus was embossed on the calendars portrayed 'Ram Darbar'. It also had a photograph of Kumari.

"A report is being prepared against Kumari and will be soon sent to the State Election Commission (SEC) for taking further action against her," sub-divisional magistrate Ram Bahadur said.
