Supporters of BJP and Congress came to blows at a polling booth in prestigious Moti Nagar constituency in New Delhi on Monday morning minutes before BJP heavyweight Madan Lal Khurana cast his ballot in his home constituency but timely intervention by police avoided a flare up.

Congress candidate Alka Lamba, who is pitted against Khurana, alleged that BJP was indulging in "bogus voting" and had brought people from outside for the purpose.

"The BJP has hired goons from Haryana and they are violating all norms of the model code of conduct by using mobile phones from inside the booths. Many of them have no identity cards", she alleged.

Reacting to the allegations, BJP supporters protested and the members of the two parties locked in a wordy duel.

The police intervened and restored normalcy enabling smooth polling.
