"The State Development Council was constituted with the aim of benefiting a handful of industrialists. Units in the power, sugar and housing sector are being handed over to industrialists compromising the interests of the state," in-charge of BJP in Uttar Pradesh Kalraj Mishra said releasing the chargesheet.
He alleged that a police-criminal nexus was existing in the state which was responsible for the dismal law and order situation and accused the state government of "miserably failing to tackle it".
Misra apprehended that the state government could resort to "unfair practices" to "doctor" the poll results in the state.
To a question on Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's statement that Samjwadi Party was ideologically close to the BJP, Misra said "he (Vajpayee) had only stated that the two parties had the same ideology on issues like foreign origin and country's defence."
