BJP leader accuses govt of not providing basic necessities to people
In response to the government's recent decision of opening new administrative units and constructing medical colleges in the state, former union minister and Jammu west MLA Chaman Lal Gupta said instead of providing basic facilities like electricity, drinking water and sanitation, the government was trying to make people believe that it was fostering development in the state.

Gupta said the announcement was made to divert people's attention from real problems that had cropped up due to the government's failure to implement its election promises. While interacting with activists at Jammu west, Gupta wondered about the source of funds for opening 569 new administrative units and constructing five medical colleges in the state.
He also pointed out that during the last five years, the demand for energy had mounted but the state could not generate sufficient power. He informed that the government had generated only 20 megawatts of power in the last year.
