BJP manifesto promises sops to the poor, farmers

The BJP's Karnataka poll manifesto, released by party leader Arun Jaitley on Friday, addressed various segments of society such as college students, the middle classes, agriculturists and people below the poverty line.

The BJP's Karnataka poll manifesto, released by party leader Arun Jaitley on Friday, addressed various segments of society such as college students, the middle classes, agriculturists and people below the poverty line.

The party took itself close to the provisions of the National Food Security Bill by announcing 25 kg of rice at Rs1 per kg per month to all poor families. Promising free lap-tops/tablets to college students and free internet facilities in all government schools and colleges was in alignment with what their (students') peers are getting in states such as UP and Tamil Nadu.

Free power for agriculture pump-sets is another lollipop for farmers.
