THE BJP legislative party today met at the Chief Minister’s residence to further discuss the implications of delimitation exercise of Assembly segments undertaken by the Election Commission.

Reports that constituencies of Public Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi and former minister and Congress MLA Harvansh Singh would be entirely wiped out following delimitation exercise created some panic among the legislators and both the BJP and the Congress have stepped up their efforts to make them understand nitty-gritty of the whole exercise.

Besides, associate members of the Delimitation Commission are scheduled to meet the Election Commission on March 9 on the issue and before that all suggestions and objections from the MLAs has to be compiled. A similar meeting was held by both the BJP and the Congress on Monday as well.

In today’s meeting, a number of BJP MLAs gave their suggestions on how to go about the exercise of delimitation. The MLAs whose constituencies are likely to undergo major demographic changes are a worried lot and there is a general feeling is that the changes should be as little as possible and the same was communicated to the State party leadership.
