BJP protests price rise, terror

ACTIVIST OF the Bharatiya Janta Party led by their State president Keshari Nath Tripathi staged a demonstration in protest against spiralling prices of essential commodities, at Ghantaghar here on Wednesday. Party workers in large numbers came out on the street to express their resentment against the increasing prices of all essential commodities. Amidst drum beats and shouting of slogans parts workers, led by the their respective leaders, reached Ghantaghar, the venue for the demonstration.

ACTIVIST OF the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) led by their State president Keshari Nath Tripathi staged a demonstration in protest against spiralling prices of essential commodities, at Ghantaghar here on Wednesday.

Party workers in large numbers came out on the street to express their resentment against the increasing prices of all essential commodities. Amidst drum beats and shouting of slogans parts workers, led by the their respective leaders, reached Ghantaghar, the venue for the demonstration.

From 10.30 am party workers started collecting at the statue of Bharatmata, at Ghantaghar. Former MP Shyam Behari Mishra led a cycle procession from the Panki temple to Ghantaghar. Other senior party leaders present on the occasion included district president (north) of the party Rakesh Sonkar asd party MLAs Satish Mahana, Salil Bishnoi and Anoop Awasthi. At around 11.45 am Keshari Nath Tripathi reached Ghantaghar and addressed the gathering.

Tripathi blamed the Centre for spiralling prices and increasing terrorist activities in the country. He said increase in prices of essential commodities had become synonymous with the Congress party. Lambasting the Union Government, Tripathi said that prices of essencial commodities had increased manifold only after the Congress-led Central Government came to power. He said essential commodities had gone out of the reach of the common man due to inflation.

The State BJP president also vented his ire at the Union Government on the issue of terrorism and held it responsible for the Mumbai and Varanasi bomb blasts.

He also criticised the Samajwadi Party-led State Government. He ridiculed Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav’s recent statement giving a clean chit to the Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

“The soft corner of the State Government for the SIMI has emboldened its leaders and they will now act fearlessly,” said Triapthi.

After addressing the gathering Tripathi led a procession traversing through Badshahi Naka, Halsi Road, Moolganj crossing, Meston Road and Badachauraha to the District Magistrate’s office.

A memorandum addressed to the President of India was handed over to City Magistrate Nirbhay Das in the absence of DM Anurag Srivastav.
