BJP shocked over hostel tragedy, asks for regulatory body

Opposition BJP in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday expressed deep shock over the death of 14 school children at Palin and demanded adequate compensation and relief for the affected families.

Opposition BJP in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday expressed deep shock over the death of 14 school children at Palin and demanded adequate compensation and relief for the affected families.

In a statement, spokesman for the BJP's state unit, Tai Tagak, criticised the state government's policy to allow individuals to run school hostels without taking measures for safety and hygiene and demanded that the education department form a regulatory body to monitor such hostels.

Lauding Don Bosco institution for its contribution in health and education sectors in interior areas of this hilly state, he said steps should be taken by the authorities to check mushrooming of private hostels for commercial gain.
