The BJP on Friday stalled Lok Sabha proceedings for about 20 minutes on the Justice Rajinder Sachar committee controversy.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had to adjourn the House for 10 minutes till 1130 hrs.
Shortly after the House assembled at 1100 hrs, BJP members trooped into the well of the House, raising slogans against what they called was an attempt by the UPA government to divide the armed forces on communal lines.
Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who is the leader of the House, offered to make a statement on the issue immediately or on Monday.
The Speaker also assured the Opposition that immediately after the question hour, he would call the Leader of Opposition LK Advani to express his views on the issue.
BJP leader Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra said there was a conspiracy to divide this country. "This does not augur well for the nation."
All the three chiefs of the Defence forces were opposed to the move on the status of Muslims in the services, he said.
