BJP supporter murdered in Karimganj

The body of an 18 year-old BJP cadre, who had been canvassing for the party’s candidate for the Karimganj Lok Sabha seat was found in South Assam’s Karimganj district on Tuesday.

The body of the 18 year-old youth belonging to the tea tribe community, found near Medley tea estate, about 25 kms from Karimganj, bore marks of sharp weapons, the police said.

The youth had been canvassing for BJP candidate for Karimganj Lok Sabha seat, Himanshu Das.

BJP leader in the assembly Mission Ranjan Das and Karimganj committee president Biswaroop Bhattacharjee condemned the murder and have decided to approach the Election Commission.

“We will urge the Election Commission to investigate whether was murder was politically motivated,” they said urging the district administration to identify the culprits.
