THE BHARATIYA Janata Party plans to launch a massive public contact programme as part of its strategy for the local bodies and Assembly elections in the State. Taking a cue from the RSS, the party think-tank has decided to reach out to maximum number of people to achieve success in the approaching elections.

The list of people to be contacted and informed about party’s ideology includes small time leaders at ward and assembly constituency levels, irrespective of their party, along with the chiefs of various social and religious organisations.
State BJP general secretary Dr Ramapati Ram Tripathi has issued these directions to party’s pravasi workers through a letter.
The party workers have been asked to visit slums and colonies dominated by people from different castes and to try and influence them to join the party after informing them about its ideology.
The letter asks them to work with special emphasis on people from scheduled castes.
They have also been asked to meet all defeated candidates of the last election, irrespective of their party, and convince them about joining the party.
Directions to organise jan chetna sabhas, which should focus on identifying speakers at ward level, have also been issued.
Commenting on the programme, on the condition of anonymity, one of the BJP leaders said that it seems the party has decided to follow RSS style of functioning to woo the voters.
Further, the pravasi workers have been asked to ensure that the Pt Deen Dayal Upadhayaya fortnight, from September 25 to October 10, is organised at ward levels. Public meetings, focusing on issues of Vande Matram and terrorism, should also be held, reads the letter.
Workers have been asked to start party offices at ward level along with the display of nameplates and party flags at the house of office bearers.
The party also plans to exploit the Vande Matram issue through a campaign in November displaying banners, posters and stickers in every nook and corner of the city. This will be followed by a huge rally at district level.
Admitting about the letter, party organisation secretary Hanuman Misra said that work in this regard had already started and results will be visible soon.
He also informed that Dr Ramapati Ram Tripathi and Dharmpal Singh would visit the city on September 23 to discuss party’s future strategy.
