THE TWIN meetings of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) general council on Tuesday are likely to uproarious, with the BJP and Congress corporators likely to raise two separate controversial issues.
While the BJP corporators will be raising the issue of empowering the Mayor-in-council for approval of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) Congress corporators will be taking up the issue of alleged bias of chairman Ramdayal Prajapati in disbursing his discretionary funds.
The meeting will begin at 11.00 am at the hall of the Acharya Narendra Dev Library in Kamla Park. First the remaining agenda of the meeting of October 18 that was boycotted by BJP corporators will be taken up. After these issues are dealt with, the agenda of the regular bimonthly meeting will be taken up.
On the agenda of the regular meeting are the issues of awards to the Sanskrit College students and the construction of neighbourhood centres (parking and shops) on BOT basis at Jumerati and near Moti Masjid. The cancellation of the offer to generate energy from garbage – given to M/S Balaji Traders – would also be on the agenda.
The meeting will also discuss the proposal to auction 23 old vehicles of the BMC as also the nominations of sportspersons for Mayor’s Trophy will be discussed.
The October 18 meeting had been boycotted by the BJP corporators as the issues of poor water supply and sanitation had not been included in the agenda.
Corporators resorted to slogan shouting and had gathered in the well forcing the chairman Ramdayal Prajapati to adjourn the meeting sine die.
