THE BMC XI and BSNL today reached the semifinal round of the Sanchi Trophy Cricket Tournament being organised by Bhopal Dugdha Sangh at Old Campion Grounds.

After a break of two days due the rains, the matches resumed today. The continuous rain has turned the ground lush green. The first quarterfinal match played between BMC XI and Irrigation Department saw a thumping 84 runs win for the BMC.

Batting first, the BMC, with the help of 78 runs by Bhalero set a 186-run target for the Irrigation Department. Virendra contributed 25 runs. B K Dewda took two wickets for Irrigation Department.

The Irrigation Department failed to put up a fight. When the required run rate mounted, the batsmen played rash shots and the team was all out for 101.

In the second quarterfinal, star-studded BSNL thumped MPSEB by ten wickets. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, MPSEB were all out for 104 in 23 overs. Kailash Bhatia of BSNL bowled a lethal spell and scalped four wickets in five overs, conceding just 10 runs.

Chasing the target, Mohnish Mishra, who was Man of the Series in the recently concluded cricket tournament organised at the same venue, repeated his brilliant performance. His unbeaten quick-fire 71 included ten boundaries and two sixes. With the help of his innings, BSNL registered a ten-wicket win.
