The Delhi-bound train was thoroughly checked for 10 minutes but it turned out to be a hoax. The railway control room had received a call that explosives were being transported from Howrah to New Delhi on Rajdhani Express.
The official, who received the message, immediately passed it onto the Divisional Railway Manager Office in Allahabad.
The assistant station master issued a memo to the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
Several teams were formed to check the train thoroughly.
The train arrived at 5:08 am and the checking lasted for 10 minutes but the teams could not find any explosive.
Official sources said that the information could be the part of the mock exercise to test the level of alert in the aftermath of the Mumbai blasts. The security agencies are already keeping vigil on the Kanpur Central Railway Station.
