What do Peter Benchley’s Jaws, Michael Ondaatje's The English Patient, and Ken Kesey's One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest have in common? Well, they have all made it to the shortlist of the best 50 books to make it to the big screen.
According to Contactmusic, the list, which has been compiled by Britain’s Book Marketing Society, honours literary classics turned into movie masterpieces, also includes J G Ballard's Empire Of The Sun, Thomas Keneally's Holocaust Drama Schindler's Ark, which was filmed by Steven Spielberg as Schindler's List, along with Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, as well as the gay cowboy romance Brokeback Mountain.
