We can say that spicy thrillers have taken a back seat and readers in the city of Allahabad are showing their inclination towards the themes which can bring in an overall transformation, both physical or mental.

Besides, a leap from fiction to reality has been noticed.

AK Gupta, manager of a famous chain of book stores, revealed that readers were demanding books which could offer them respite from their mundane life.

What else could be the relevant topic other than that based on spirituality, he commented.

Of course, international acclamation counts too and influences the trend of readership. The book written by booker prize winner Kiran Desai titled 'Inheritance of loss' is high on demand, says Gupta.

Leo, the owner of a book shop in Civil Lines area has kept a wide range of topics, which can lure the readers to start with 'How to develop powerful and positive personality' or 'How to develop self-confidence'. The man has dedicated at least two racks for such books.

Those in marketing line have not been spared either. So, one can easily look for 'Zenwise selling improve your sales' in order to gather enough courage to face the endless competition in the market.

"Youngsters are our best customers and this definitely shows how serious they are towards improving their personality," he said. Another shop owner said that age was no bar where such books were concerned. So, coming of age is no more a taboo for those who still want to make the best out of their life.

Dale Carnegie, whose best-seller 'How to win friends and influence people' still rules the category, has motivated many our desi writers to join the same bandwagon.

Pramod Batra, PG Ganesan and Venkata are among those few writers, who are, perhaps, teaching Indians in their own language with our very own Indian backdrop.

"Quick tips are what we are looking for as no one has the time to ponder over lengthy procedures required for purging the negativities from our personality.

These books offer us the quick solutions for our day-to-day problems," said Sumit, an ardent reader.

So, if you have read 'Born to be happy' just follow the rules of 'Success is never ending, failure is never final'. Both these books have also attracted a sizeable number of readers.
