THE BRAHMIN community has galvanised against dacoit Jagjivan Parihar who has vowed to kill 101 members of the community and, pursuing the vow, abducted 15 members from Kitholi in Uttar Pradesh recently.

Seven of them were Brahmins. He later freed eight non-Brahmins. Infuriated over the notorious dacoit’s daredevilry, the Brahmin community members staged a dharna at Maharaj Bada and submitted a five-point memorandum to the ADM R.K. Jain addressed to the President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Dr Man Mohan Singh.

The memorandum has demanded immediate elimination of the Jagjivan gang besides adequate security to the community. A deep sense of anguish and insecurity prevails among Brahmins of the Chambal region following the dacoit’s vow. Now a hot topic of discussion is why Jagjivan Parihar, a Thakur, is so pathologically antagonistic to the Brahmins.
