It is not surprising that the Brahmins have expressed their support for Mayawati.

It is not surprising that the Brahmins have expressed their support for Mayawati. The reason is that major political parties have been vying with each other to increase only the reservation percentages of SCs, STs, OBCs and Muslims for the sake of securing vote-banks. In fact, the Brahmins have been reduced to a minority status. Mayawati capitalised on this in the recent UP elections.
