"A brigadier and two soldiers were injured in the firing at Tutamari Gali of Nowgam sector near the LoC yesterday (Friday) evening," an army officer said.

"Brigadier Sanjeev Langar received minor injuries," he added. Sources in the army said the Pakistan army soldiers, in violation of the bilateral ceasefire, began heavy firing from automatic weapons at Indian posts around 6.30 pm.

"They also fired some mortars. Our troops retaliated with calibrated response. The firing stopped around 8 p.m " they added. The two countries had announced a bilateral ceasefire along the LoC and international border in November 2003.
