They demanded that Karat should apologise for her remarks and threatened to launch a movement against her.

Shivkumar Tripathi alias Chhotu, Hariom Yadav, Himanshu Malviya, Ashutosh Shukla, Chandan Dwivedi and Krinal Singh said the allegations levelled by Karat generated resentment among Ramdev’s followers.

They said it was part of a deep-rooted conspiracy to defame ayurvedic medicines manufactured by Ramdev. Various reports were published in international journals against ayurvedic medicines, and Karat’s remarks added fuel to fire, they said.

They added that a meeting of Ramdev’s followers would be organised to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to launch a mass movement against Karat.

Brinda Karat had said human bone powder and animal parts were used in ayurvedic medicines manufactured by Ramdev.

The confirmation of the use of human bone powder by Union Health Minister Ambumani Ramadoss has fuelled the controversy.

Meanwhile, reports of angry reaction in protest against CPM’s leader Brinda Karat’s allegations poured in from several other districts of the State.

On Thursday, supporters of Baba Ramdev staged protests and burnt effigies of the CPM leader in Allahabad and Varanasi.
