Korea's Hur Suk-ho, better known as S K Ho, brought himself back into contention for a good finish with a three-under 69 that saw him come up to six-under 210 and in tied 16th place.
Thai Thaworn Wiratchant looked good for a top-10 for better part of the day, before he started sliding on the back nine and finished with a two-over 74 and ended tied 39th at the end of the third day.
Another Asian Tour player playing the weekend rounds is Australian Andrew Buckle, a last-minute entrant following Trevor Immelman's withdrawal. He was also tied 39th with rounds of 72, 69 and 72 alongside Wiratchant.
Earlier, India's Shiv Kapur had missed the cut by two shots with rounds of 72 and 73 and Jarrod Lyle missed it by one with rounds of 74 and 70. KJ Choi, Asia's highest ranked player, also missed the cut by two with rounds of 72 and 74.
World number one and defending champion Tiger Woods birdied his last hole and grinded out a round of 71 despite three 3-putts on the back nine to retain his overnight one-shot lead. He was one ahead of Sergio Garcia, Chris DiMarco and Ernie Els.
Spain's Garcia charged up the leaderboard with a course record equalling 65 while Els carded a 71 followed by a 69 from DiMarco, who is searching for his first major title.
A top-10 finish will give the players an invite to next year's British Open at Carnoustie. More
