Police have seized two kgs of brown sugar, valuing Rs two crore in the international market, and arrested four persons in this connection from Bhatindi area of Jammu city.
On specific information, a police party raided Bhatindi area of Jammu city on Tuesday and took into custody four persons identified as Kaleem Shah, Ashish Kumar, Aijaz Ahmed and Vicky, police said in Jammu on Wednesday.
Two kgs of brown sugar was seized from them. The contraband worth Rs two crore in the international market was brought by the accused from Kashmir valley and they were planning to smuggle it to New Delhi, they said.
During preliminary questioning, racketeers disclosed that they were engaged in making fake currency notes at Palora area of Jammu district where they had set up a computer, a colour printer and a photo copier.
Police also raided their hideout at Paloura and seized all equipments along with some fake currency notes.
Shah and Kumar belong to Rajouri while Ahmed and Vicky are residents of Bhatindi area of Jammu city, police said adding a case has been registered against them.
