These flats, owned by Harish Tandon, were put under the threat of demolition by the SDM, Sadar, Allahabad. The official had claimed that this construction had come up on State land. Besides, the petitioner was also threatened with criminal prosecution, if he did not demolish the construction forthwith. Harish Tandon filed a writ petition, challenging the said order.After hearing counsel for petitioner Satish Trivedi, assisted by Pushkar Mehrotra, a Division Bench, comprising Justice Amitava Lala and Justice Shiv Shankar, passed this order.
The petitioner said the property in question was constructed on the land, which was on perpetual lease. Moreover, the map was sanctioned by the Allahabad Development Authority in 1997 upon a direction of the Allahabad High Court.
Appointed
AN ADVOCATE of Allahabad High Court, Anil Pathak has been appointed as counsel for Nagar Palika Parishad, Baraut, Bagpat district in Allahabad High Court and Board of Revenue.
Pathak will appear on behalf of the Parishad in the court proceedings of the Parishad and Board of Revenue.
Pathak is also working as Central Government counsel and counsels for UP Sugar Federation, Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, UP and Nagar Palika Parishad, Bijnore.
Central Govt litigation
THE ADDITIONAL Solicitor General of India in the Allahabad High Court, Dr Ashok Nigam, will be incharge of Central Government litigation before the Allahabad High Court.
Dr Nigam will mark cases to Assistant Solicitor General of India KC Sinha and other panel counsels in the Allahabad High Court. Till now, this power was being exercised by Assistant Solicitor General of India KC Sinha.
A notification issued by Joint Secretary of Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Judicial Section, New Delhi DR Meena further said that Dr Nigam would ensure that as far as possible the distribution of work between him and other panel counsels of the Central Government, including Assistant Solicitor General of India, was fair.
Medical camp for lawyers
A FREE medical camp for lawyers will be organised jointly by the Bar Association Board of Revenue, UP and Narain Hospital, Allahabad on the premises of the Board of Revenue, on March 10.
Giving this information, secretary of the Board of Revenue Bar Association Bal Krishna Pandey said this was the first medical camp organised for lawyers.
He said the camp will open at 10.30 am and will continue till 2 pm.
On this occasion, a book titled ‘Yog and Physiotherapy’ written by Mahesh Chandra and Rakesh Chandra will also be released.
