Police have arrested the contractor and two supervisors of an under-construction building that collapsed in Shalimar Garden on Saturday, killing two persons and injuring 13 others.
Building contractor Kishan Chand and his two supervisors were arrested last night and raids are on in Delhi and Ghaziabad to arrest the builder, Kranti Tiwari, and her two sons, SSP Raghubir Lal said.
District magistrate Shashi Bhushan Lal said use of inferior quality construction material caused the building collapse. He said action will be taken against the builder.
Meanwhile, a team of National Disaster Relief Force from Noida, along with Air Force personnel brought in from the Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad have removed all the debris and rescued about 28 persons.
The under-construction four-storey building collapsed at 5 pm on Saturday. All the dead and injured are construction workers and their kin.
The DM assured that ex-gratia payments will be made to the family of the two deceased and injured persons.
