Traffic movement on this road came to a standstill for more than three hours after traders scattered bricks on the road to stop movement of vehicles. Circle Officer Vinod Singh had to come on the spot to persuade the agitating traders and residents to give up their agitation. The agitationists later relented after the CO assured them to get the burglary worked out within 24 hours.

The burglars had targeted the shops after careful selection, feel residents of the area. They first managed to lift the shutter of Nishtha Jewellers without breaking the lock and took away gold and silver jewellery. The stunned shop owner could not immediately give details of the extent of the damage. Residents said, he must have suffered a loss of several lakh.

After this the burglars chose two general merchant shops where they expected to get cash. And they did. Besides stealing over Rs 10,000 from the cash boxes of both the shops they also took away some costly articles like cashew nuts and other things. Some residents of the area feel that it was the handiwork of some local miscreants and police will succeed in case they took pains.
