OVER A dozen students and a teacher were hurt when a bus rammed into a truck on the National Highway near Misrod on Tuesday.
The bus with students of Scope engineering college and school was on its way from Mandideep to Bhopal. According to police, a truck ahead of the bus suddenly applied brakes, resulting in bus ramming into the truck. One teacher, Usha Dang, 30, and 13 students, including Manish, Mohammad Umar, Anjali, Anuja, Payal, Tarun, Monika, Pallavi, Arjun, Satya and Pankaj were injured.
They were rushed to the hospital and given primary medication. The students were mostly teenagers. Some of them were treated in a private hospital near Mandideep.
Police said another bus, this one belonging to the BITS College, Bangrasia, MP 04/HV-9205 was on its way to Bhopal when the driver of the truck MP9/KD-1765 unsuccessfully tried to overtake the bus.
The truck hit the bus sideways but no one was injured. In a bid to control the vehicle, the driver screeched the truck to halt suddenly. Meanwhile, the bus of Scope school (MP05/A-7717) that was behind both the vehicles, rammed into the back of the truck.
The accident had occurred near Pal Dhaba close to Misrod at 8:20 am. The Misrod police registered a case. The matter is being looked into.
