Yet, lack of additional parking slots near Metro stations remains a major worry for commuters who travel in their own vehicles.
Bringing some relief to passengers, UPSRTC Noida-region on Thursday provided eight buses for feeder service in Ghaziabad. UPSRTC officials said these buses would charge anything between Rs 4 and Rs 10.
“Initially, we have started eight buses. More buses could start once the issue of operational expenses is discussed,” said PL Belwariar, regional manager, UPSRTC Noida.
Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) had recently decided to pay Rs 1.5 crore to UPSRTC Ghaziabad-region to buy 10 new feeder-buses.
“We have not received any further communication from them even though we agreed to pay a one-time amount for purchase of new buses,” said NK, Chaudhary GDA vice-chairman.
Presently, Vaishali and Kaushambi stations can accommodate about 250 cars each. Ghaziabad traffic police officials say the number of private vehicles in Indirapuram alone is around 50,000.
