Ever since Jonty Rhodes brought on the spotlight, fielding has become an inseparable part of the winning formula. Hence, the adage 'catches win matches'. But when will the Deccan Chargers learn?

On Thursday, they committed the sacrilege of dropping Kevin Pietersen thrice, allowing the England batsman to romp to a century and the Delhi Daredevils canter to yet another thumping win.

The dropped catches overshadowed an otherwise decent outing for the Deccan Chargers but the result nevertheless boiled down to the former.

Gautam Gambhir's Knights, however, have been in the news lately due for their slick fielding. Diving full length at the ripe age of 35 and being able to save a
boundary must have been a huge boost for Brett Lee.

The Chargers would be desperate given the way they have spilled catches, first to hand Tuesday's match to the Rajasthan Royals and then, against the Daredevils.

This was after their batsmen made amends to put on competitive totals on the board.

But KKR have been spot-on. Not many teams have had it going in all three departments so far but against the Kings XI on Wednesday, the Knight Riders were able to show their true potential --- economical yet aggressive bowling, tight fielding and big runs up the order to finish the game.

Doomed?
Four rounds into the IPL, they lie at the bottom of the table and nothing has gone right for them. They have dragged themselves to yet another home venue in search of a win but it would require more than just 'home advantage' to bring about a turnaround.
