Cabinet lifts ban on sugar exports, clears fiscal sops

The Govt cleared a clutch of fiscal sops to companies like Intel, to set up chip manufacturing facilities in India.

The Cabinet on Thursday lifted the ban on sugar exports and cleared a clutch of fiscal sops to companies - like Intel - to set up chip manufacturing facilities in India.

It also approved an ordinance empowering the Reserve Bank of India to vary the statutory investment requirements of banks in government securities. It also referred the much awaited pharma policy to the Group of Ministers and the approved the setting up of a Central Drug Authority of India.
