He exhorted the people to develop resistance power to oppose the neo-colonialism in the name of globalisation.

Delivering his address as a chief guest at a conference on ‘The First Freedom Struggle of 1857 and The Challenges of New Capitalism’ organised by the Gorakhpur Journalists’ Association, he said that he was not against globalisation but he would oppose neo-colonialism. He laid stress on the need for globalising the sensitivity and human feelings across the world to save the humanity.

Tripathi said that the he revolt of 1857 was a movement against suppression of the people’s voice, and it has established national integration for the first time in the country.

Speaking about the nexus between the capitalist and communal forces, he said that before 1857, there was no history of communal riots in India, and it was the British who persuaded divide-and-rule policies.

Tripathi said that capitalism of the 21st century was different from the capitalism of 1900 and laid stress on the need to draft a policy to oppose the neo-capitalism. He said, “We do not want traders’ attitude but we urgently need the human attitude.”

Prof Kamlesh Kumar and journalist Ashok Chaudhary also expressed their views at the conference.
